I'VE SEEN IT AND LOVED IT. But yes, it's... not so much scary as it is unsettling as hell. All the design work is just so great.

Thoroughly recommend Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni if you haven't watched it already. One of my favorites ever and I'm not even a horror person. The visual novel Saya no Uta, too, since that's a little less well-known.

ODDLY ENOUGH I'm more familiar with Saya no Uta than I am Higurashi! Though I keep meaning to take a look at it... I'm partway into Episode 2 of Umineko, at least?! (THAT'S NOT THE SAME THING AT ALL, SELF.)

WHEE they are both so excellent, try out Higurashi sometime! I've heard the anime adaptation of Umineko is really bad? :x And did not get the second half where all the questions are answered because it did so poorly? I'm debating whether I should actually watch it or go through 100+ hours of visual novel for that reason. BUT I downloaded it so I should probably see for myself.
